Project Photos

Sample collection and initial analysis is done from a mobile laboratory with reservoirs being accessed using a boat or snowmobile or airboat. (photos 1 , 2 and 3). Riverine samples are grabbed from bridges (Photo 4). Monitoring frequency varies from weekly to monthly depending on the season, with more activity during the recreational season. Routine monitoring includes collection data (time, temperature, etc), initial analyses (see photo 2), nutrients, suspended solids, and BOD. Total gas saturation is monitored routinely below both Saylorville and Red Rock Dams. Bacteria and chlorophyll concentrations are determined spring through fall. Trace metals are analyzed quarterly. Annually, fish are collected for pesticide residue analyses (photo 5). Data are recorded and discussed primarily in annual reports.
